Your Patient Rights

Please review the policy below prior to your visit with us.

All patients have the right to be fully informed about their treatment/procedure and the expected outcome before it is performed and to participate in their own health care decisions as well as make advance directive or executive powers of attorney that authorize others to make decisions on their behalf based on the patient's expressed wishes when the patient is unable to make decisions or communicate decisions. This surgery center respects and upholds those rights. However, unlike in an acute care hospital setting, the surgery center does not routinely perform high-risk procedures. Most procedures are considered to be of minimal risk although no surgery is risk-free. therefore, it is the surgery center;s policy that if an adverse event occurs during your treatment, we will initiate resuscitative or other stabilizing measures and transfer you to a higher-level of care facility. The law recognizes the right of competent adults to make advance directive instructions and requires the surgery center to provide patients with written information and official State forms on advance directives if the patient requests.

In addition, all patients have the right to exercise his/her rights without being subject to discrimination or reprisal and to voice grievances regarding treatment or care that is (or fails to be) furnished.
